About
This project is linked to a social commitment to the most disadvantaged social classes in the field of mathematics education, where children and young people reveal substantial learning difficulties. Aware of this reality, the heads of the municipality of Gaia sought to intervene in a partnership with ESE / IPPorto. Spaces of mathematical learning were created in an inclusive perspective, contextualized and in close relation with the family and the school. Knowledge was produced in an articulated and transversal way to promote differentiated learning. The process included individualized monitoring through the application of Individual Intervention Plans (IIP), developed in close relation with the reality of the child, using innovative tasks, and unstructured and structured materials. This process of mathematical learning, from a perspective of citizenship education, adopted a logic of active and continuous research to improve processes and products, related to a positive attitude towards knowledge in which the acquisition and mobilization of knowledge make sense and is meaningful for the child.
