The roots of the School of Education of Porto Polytechnic Institute (ESEPP), established in 1980, are in the "Escola Normal do Porto" and in the "Escola do Magistério Primário". In this sense, the ESEPP is heir to a centennial trajectory in the training of teachers and educators. This research project was initiated at the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Porto Polytechnic. It is an investigation within the realm of History of Education, which reveals great urgency for the preservation of the historical heritage of the Archive of the "Escola Normal do Porto", kept by the Porto Polytechnic, in need of safeguard and treatment, and of other material spoils that mark the inheritance of this School. This project proves to be important, since all the documentary archive related to this institution is untreated, and one of the tasks to be carried out will be the collection of the documentary, bibliographical, material and iconographic funds of the institution, aiming at its preservation and valuation.

In this sense, it is intended to work from the memories of the history of this institution whose inheritance is the depositary the School of Education of Porto.
